The word home has many meanings, but the most common definition for most of us is probably: the place where a person, a family, or household lives.

The lyrics from the Bacharach/David song 'A House Is Not A Home' always float through my head, especially these lyrics:

A chair is still a chair/Even though there's no-one sitting there

But a chair is not a house / And a house is not a home

When there's no-one there to hold you tight / And no-one there you can kiss goodnight.

That's what home means to me.  A house is simply a structure, 'a building made for people to live in', whether it's an apartment, a shared space, or a seperate edifice; but a home is that same place where you live with the people you love, be it a friend, roommate, or significant other...your family makes it complete.
