Jo-Ann Millen is a textile artist. This art piece entitled, “Complex Cloth” addresses the hard structured surface of wood married to the soft textiles of silk, cotton and tulle. The raw silk material is ripped and reconstructed using both machine and hand-stitched needlework. It is a quiet, reflective piece that allows the elements of simplicity and complexity to co-exist. Her work includes a variety of pieces for exhibitions and private collections. Her art has been on loan to museums and exhibition shows including the American Folk Art Museum in NYC, and the historic Shelburne Museum in Vermont. Her most recent work is on tour in the U.S. and will be shown in China next year as part of the “Art of Playing Cards” exhibit.
