Transportation Provider

Job Description

Specific Duties:  To assist the shelter staff in the transport of people or items to or from the shelter.  Examples of this would be:

• Picking up or dropping off furniture and household donations.
• Delivering large quantities of food items to the shelter.
• Removing large objects or large amounts of small objects from the shelter and bringing them to their appropriate location.
• Driving parent to meetings that are not at the shelter.

Qualifications/Skills:  The transporter needs to own or have access to an appropriate sized vehicle.  This will vary depending on the assignment.  This position requires a person who is reliable, dependable, and flexible.  A willingness to participate in task oriented activity is also helpful.  If one is going to transport people a valid license and a good vehicle report is needed.

Hours/Dates:  Transportation positions are currently available.  The schedule is flexible.  It varies according to the amount of items that need to be taken care of and how soon they need to be moved.  We do ask that you remain available for at least a six month period in order to maintain organizational stability.

Goals:

• To enable the shelter staff to get certain materials to the shelter that cannot be transported by car.
• To make it possible for the shelter staff to remove items from the shelter that are no longer necessary there.
• To make it possible for clients to get to their various appointments.
